Fulton Amateur Radio Club

September 25, 2024 Meeting

 

Meeting Opened by President Paul Hopman at 1905.

Paul welcomed back member Garrett Wikoff after a long summer of hospitalization.

Due to illness our secretary was not present. Minutes of the May meeting will be read at the next meeting.

Treasurers Report was read by Bob Goetelle. Motion made by Judy LaMay and seconded by Rick Boutell to accept the report as read. Carried. Insurance was paid to ARRL for the year.

Committee Reports:

RACES, No Report.

Website/Facebook, No Report.

Tom Cantine Scholarship, No Report.

Field Day, Chairman Garrette Wikoff reported a good turn out.  Discussion was held on the different areas explored and about 10 people participated. Good food and a thank you to Vice President Ken Ellsworth for the use of his property. All paperwork and numbers were sent on to Mike Regan for commutation. As Mike was not in attendance, we had no report. Antenna trlr. Is still in Ken’s garage. It needs to be painted. Paul will look into the cost of supplies and report back to the group.

License Classes, Rick Boutell reported he had 3 candidates pass the Technician Class. Redd Swindell reported no interest in the General class with the exception of one individual so Redd will do a one on one session with the new Tech, Dan Walsh,. Dan introduced himself and reported he is still waiting for his call sign. Dan will receive a free one year membership for passing his Technician test.

 

 

 

Paul asked for a motion to accept the Committee Reports. Motion made by Garret Wikoff and seconded by Paul Hopman. Carried.

Ken Ellsworth reported he picked up the antenna stored at the airport that was used for the 147.150 and took it to his garage and it is working well. He is looking for ideas to make improvements.

Ken also reported that the tower still has not been totally removed from the Dave Webb site. 

Discussion held regarding the condition of the Communication trailer. And the location of the trailer. Thought to be at Mike Regan’s. 

Picnic was to be termed as good. Location of chicken for pick up a detriment to the time of the meal but chicken was very good. Discussion on the possibility of going with Driveway Inn next year. Judy LaMay stated that since Julia Hopman was in charge of this committee next year, it was up to her to check this venue out and make the discission

Judy reported that our Christmas Dinner is December 14 at RFH’s Hideaway and as of this time we have a speaker, Bill Scriber speaking on the Port Authority in Oswego.

Dick Hopman asked if we were going to meet one week earlier in the months of November and December? As we do not meet during the month of December, that is our Christmas Dinner, our last meeting of the year will be on November 20th. 

Motion made by Keith Conroy to adjourn the meeting seconded by Dave Granoff. Carried.

Floor turned over to Garrettt Wikoff with a discussion on digipi.
